I’ve learnt a lot working in the kitesurfing industry. I’ve learnt to be patient. To understand why my phone calls often go unanswered on summer afternoons and winter mornings. That product R&D is a good excuse for just about anything and you’d better just get used to it. I’ve met the most colourful characters and have seen ‘fashions’ reappear that should have stayed dead and buried… But all that makes me love my job so much more. Where else can you show up to work wearing no shoes and find a note scrawled on your desk reading, “Gone surfing. Cancel all meetings.”
I’ve been working for Ben Wilson for about 4 years now, a strange and twisted transition from Nutritionist to PA/yoga instructor/writer/editor/whatever. I’ve been lucky enough to dodge the daily grind and meet incredible people from around the world. Travel is one of the major perks – every year I join Ben on his Namotu Island Kite Weeks to teach yoga and ‘work’ and now we’ve added another coaching camp, this time on New South Wales’ Far South Coast. This time I get to do a little cooking too.
Here are a few photos from the week.
